TRACK STAR

We can ALL get off track, but the old standard will put us back on the right road.

Life is the big distraction. It is all about making sure that life doesn't make us forget about God and love. I think that we work hard to be successful because that is a part of our definition of success. In our efforts to do our best in one area, sometimes we neglect other important areas. God is wonderful and is always in tune with us, even we are not in tune with Him.

When we are overly busy, we don't hear Him because there is so much competition. It isn't until we have spun out of control mentally that we usually turn to God and say, "Help." In order to stay grounded, we need to stay in the word. It isn't because it is a requirement like paying your taxes, but it helps us out. It is like taking a daily vitamin. You help your psyche when you read the word.

We get off track when we cut the word out to catch a few extra winks or to spend time watching the newest reality show. It is easy to spiral out of control as life hurls situations and conflicts at you, but when you have the word of God telling you that everything is going to be okay. Yes, trials will come, but they are no surprise to God. Staying on track by praying and reading the word is wisdom.

It is not like when your parent tells you some thing to do that is just a rote action to fill your time. It is a practical thing like putting on deodorant. You don't have to put it on, but there are consequences. We can get to be stinky people without the word and interaction with the Lord. I guess I am trying to say that reading the word and praying are not to impress God with your clocked in hours. It is to help you maneuver through this crazy thing called life in a godly manner. So if you notice that you life has gotten a little off track, try the good old basics--reading the word and praying. I'm just saying.
